Hello, we are Russ and Rosan Sprinkles. We grew up right here in Gaston County and are high school sweet hearts from South Point High School in Belmont, NC. After high school, Russ left to go to NC State for his studies while Rosan attended Belmont Abbey College. Russ graduated from NC State in 1996 with his Bachelors Degree in Animal Science (Suma Cume Laude). He then went on to the NC State College of Veterinary Medicine to obtain his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000 where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. Rosan went on to get a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business from Belmont Abbey College. Rosan has a background in human medicine and has learned a great deal about veterinary medicine in the last few years. We have a son named Caden. He is now twelve years old and we love spending time as a family when we are not working. He loves to do all of the normal things that kids his age do. He is especially talented in the area of music and drama. Caden has truly been a blessing to both of us.
People always want to know how many pets we have at home. Most all of our pets have joined us via the phrase, “let’s just keep it until we find a good home”. Years later, they are still with us. Right now we three cats, Laura, Mia and Jasper, a very energetic rescue puppy named Darcy, and three fish. We will probably end up having a lot more pets as Caden gets a little older. When we have free time from work, we like to go to Putt Putt, watch movies, go camping, mountain biking, and just enjoy God’s many blessings around us.
We opened Grace Animal Hospital in December of 2006. After a long search of trying to find the right location for us, we found it here! We have come to meet and know so many wonderful people that will hopefully be lifetime friends. Thanks to all of you for being such great clients. We appreciate your business and look forward to being here for many years to come. Our dream of opening a veterinary hospital has come true and we owe it to God and our wonderful clients.
I am Dr. Doug Dilworth. I grew up on a grain and livestock farm in West-Central Illinois. My early education started with my own 4-H sheep herd; horses; family cattle and swine operations. The local veterinarian’s skill with animals and people inspired me to consider this profession at an early age. I completed a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Iowa State in December 1987. My Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State was celebrated in May of 1992.
After graduating from veterinary school, I returned to my hometown area around Macomb Illinois to practice in a large and small animal practice. I relocated to Petersburg Illinois 2 years later where I practiced in a mixed small and large animal practice. I then headed west to Park City Utah to enjoy the mountainous west, where I could fly fish, ski and hike. I eventually settled near Denver Colorado; where I trained and mentored veterinarians along with managing many corporate hospitals across the Mountain West. During this time, I re-found my love for horses and the best way to explore the outdoors.
I moved to the Charlotte area in 2008 where I continued to be involved with mentoring veterinarians, managing, and practicing in corporate veterinary hospitals in North and South Carolina. I left corporate practice in 2012 to return to the joy of private practice and working directly with clients in finding solutions for their pets’ veterinary concerns. I have always been enthusiastic about clients, veterinary care, and the joy of helping people. I started helping Grace Animal Hospital in late 2013 occasionally on a relief veterinary status and quickly moved into a part-time position. I enjoy the philosophy, practice, and team at Grace Animal Hospital.
When I am not helping people and pets; I teach horsemanship, horse handling, and training of horses at 3-D Horsemanship with my wife Lisa in Waxhaw, NC. We have two girls, Carter and Charlee that add exciting dimensions every day. Our animal family includes Irish Draught Horses, Quarter Horses, Checkers our Border Collie, and Phoebe the calico cat!
I am Selena Riffe and I was born and raised in the Harrisburg, Concord area. I attended UNC Charlotte and have never lived too far from my family. I have worked in the animal health care field for some time now. I was born with a deep love for all animals. My job allows me to work with animals every day. It is a prayer come true for me, to work for such wonderful people at Grace Animal Hospital. I find it refreshing to work with Christians and so close to home. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, dining out and spending time with family and friends. I just adopted a new four legged pitbull named Lilly and she is settling nicely into her new home. Grace is a place where you and your pet are very important and have people that know how important the relationship people have with their four legged friends.
My name is Paige Dunlap. I am a registered veterinary technician born and raised in Gastonia. I graduated from Gaston College’s Veterinary Technician Program in 2010. I have worked in small animal practice since then and have been with Grace Animal Hospital since March of 2012. Growing up, I always knew I would pursue some branch of veterinary medicine, whether it was zoology, equine, or small animal medicine. I decided to work in small animal practice, where I could also have the privilege of educating clients about the care of their pets. Dentistry is my favorite part of my career, so I especially enjoy National Pet Dental Month in February. I have a dachshund/terrier mix, Scooby, who is full of energy and ready to play. I spend my spare time with friends and family, shopping, horseback riding and even playing piano!
My name is Allyson Powell. I have been working at Grace Animal Hospital since June 2013. I graduated from Gaston College’s Veterinary Technician Program in May 2003. I have been in the veterinary field for 11 years. I was born and raised in Lenior, North Carolina but have lived in Gastonia for 8 years. I have been happily married to my husband Nathan since August 2006. We have two beautiful daughters named Eve and Chloe. We have three pets, one dog named Rubo Roo and two cats, Lacey and Onyx. I am a fan of the Carolina Panthers and the UNC Tar Heels. I am very passionate about my job at Grace Animal Hospital.
I am Marque Jabbar and I moved to North Carolina some time ago from New York City. I had visited relatives here and could not wait to come back. My love has always been with the larger breed dogs. I started with the Pitbull, but have also loved the Rottweiler and the American Bulldog as well. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life who loved pets like I think we should. I am blessed with a loving family. My wife and two beautiful children make my life complete. We love dining out, seeing movies, and our favorite destination would be the Carolina mountains. My wife, of course being born and raised here, loves going to Myrtle Beach and Oak Island. I enjoy all sports and love spending Sunday afternoons watching the games.
My name is Debbie Sprinkles and if you are wondering, yes I am Dr. Sprinkles’ mother. I work with the team in the afternoons cleaning the office and making sure the hospital is stocked and ready to go each day. I enjoy being able to work in a place where I not only get to work with my son, but also every day I get to interact with the staff and pets seen at Grace Animal Hospital. In my free time, I enjoy playing with my grandchildren, camping, and enjoying time with family. Ask anyone who knows me, my favorite time of year is winter… I LOVE snow. I can sometimes be seen at car shows with my husband and his restored 1954 Chevrolet Truck. At home, we have a yellow Labrador named Lulu, three cats named Shenaenae, Lucky, and Theodore. I also enjoy the whitetail deer that wonder up our yard.
My name is Olivia Kennedy, I began working at Grace Animal Hospital in June 2016. I grew up in a small town called Lucia which is right outside of Mt. Holly. I first found my love for animals as a child due to my dad showing his labs as a hobby however my passion began when I started my first job working at a doggy daycare while attending UNC Charlotte this job lead to me rescuing my very first dog, Butterz in August 2013, he is an English bulldog who has a form of Spina Bifida. After dealing with his serious medical issues I decided that I wanted to begin a career with animals so I started to shadow at a vet hospital in Charlotte, NC to earn my hours for Vet Tech School, during my internship the office offered me a full time position so my journey began and now it continues to grow here at Grace Animal Hospital. I am also involved with an English bulldog rescue known as Bullies 2 the Rescue, which is located in Indian Trail, NC. When not working or doing rescue work I enjoy my free time by listening to live bluegrass music or taking a day trip to Asheville to experience the culture and the local bluegrass music there.
Hey! My name is Hannah and I am a veterinary technician here at Grace Animal Hospital. I graduated from Gaston College’s Veterinary Technology program in 2015 but I have been working in the veterinary field for six years now. I am also a Purina Certified pet nutritionist. I worked at the North Carolina Zoo at Asheboro as a technician during the summer of 2015 and I loved being in such close proximity to all of the exotic animals. I fell in love with all of the different creatures such as a Matlock’s Python named Freckles, the Polar Bear Anana, an Opossum named Maurice, and a Baboon named Sally! But my heart will always belong to the Chimpanzees, especially the male named Kendall. I currently have an Alaskan Husky named Sugar, an English Bulldog named Chunk, a tuxedo cat named Streak, a brown tabby cat named Ernie, a ferret named Sydney and an Albino rat named Daisy. I do have a small zoo at my house but I have a weakness for rescuing animals. I love meeting and working with all of our fantastic clients and their precious furry family members. If you have a small pocket pet or an exotic pet I am always excited to meet and assist in their care. My favorite part of being a technician is client education, I will never hesitate to answer a client’s questions and to aid them in making a better life for their pets. I married my husband in 2016 and we love spending time with our animals and look forward to rescuing many more animals in the future.
